Project Name: U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Training Center Erosion Control
Project
Location: Jacksonville, Florida.
Project Duration: 1.5 Years
Project Summary
SFRC&D has completed the engineering design and is awaiting permit
approval for a shoreline stabilization project for the U.S. Marine Corps
Reserve Training Center. This facility is located on the North bank
of the St. Johns River near Interstate 95 on the north side of Jacksonville,
Florida. The natural shoreline has been severely devastated by the
wake of large ship traffic and by the hurricanes that hit Florida in 2004.
The shoreline stabilization design consists of approximately 1700 linear
feet of rock rip rap placed onto a specially designed bed of geo textile
fabric and gravel that will reclaim a portion of the lost shoreline and
prevent future loss of any more shoreline for this important training center.
