BOARD MEETING
MINUTES FEBRUARY 27, 2008

INTRODUCTION & WELCOMING COMMENTS –
Pat Crawley called the meeting to order at 10:30 am and welcomed everyone.
MINUTES – The minutes from 1-15-08 were unanimously approved.
Stephen Kurutz made the motion to accept the minutes and Jack Thorley seconded.
FINANCIAL REPORT – Bill Brown read the financials. He explained that
we are still pending some receivables from the Navy – Jacksonville Project.
We are still working things out with the accountant. Patrick Quinn made
the motion to accept the financials and Cooper McMillan seconded.
The motion was unanimously approved.
COORDINATOR’S REPORT –
Greg announced that Niles Glasgow transferred to become State Conservationist
in South Carolina and the new NRCS State Conservationist is Carlos Suarez.
Ken Murray, our current program manager, is moving to Washington D.C. effective
March 17, 2008. One of the proposals on the President’s F. Y. 2009
budget is to eliminate financial support for the RC&D program. The
Southeastern Association of RC&D Conference will be held on Whitefield
Virginia September 10-15, 2008.
US NAVY PROJECT JAX – The Project is completed including all
the required documentation. There are still some pending payments for invoices
issued more than six months ago.
US NAVY KEY WEST – The permit form DEP should be coming soon. Marc
Calorusso’s father will be the inspector in charge of this project.
LAKE EMERALD – Wes contacted Broward County in reference to the construction
permit and it should be ready within 30 days. A biological assessment was
done and there is no need for a mitigation plan. Construction should
begin no later than April and the project should be completed by the end
of November.
MIRAMAR – The boat tour was completed for the inspection of two canal
systems. These canal systems have shoreline issues and
erosion problems and some of the properties need seawalls. Wes submitted
the report on February 1st, 2008. He also gave them a cost proposal for
project management and engineering services for the construction phase
of this project. Payment for the inspection work done should be coming
soon.
SLEEPY RIVER – This is a dredging project in Wilton Manors. The
Council was in charge of the culvert design. Project was completed
and we are still waiting for payment of two invoices for a total of $6,709.00.
NEW BUSINESS
WATERWAYS HOA LAKESHORE STABILIZATION – This is a shoreline stabilization
Project in a residential area. Wes met the property manager and board members,
and he also inspected the lake. The geo tube and embankment work
were not properly done. Per their request, a proposal to redesign the shoreline
protection was sent and it is to be presented on their next board meeting.
HOLLYWOOD LAKEFRONT PROPERTY STABILIZATION –
This is a shoreline restoration project in for a residence in Hollywood
on a small lake.
LITIGATION EXPENSES – Board Members Agreed that we should call Taylor
Court Reporters and work out a payment plan with them.
EXECUTIVE SESSION – A brief executive session was held to discuss
current litigation issues.
NEXT MEETING SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 2008 AT 10:30 AM AT THE
COMMUNITY BANK SUITE 402 LOCATED AT 15600 SW 288TH STREET HOMESTEAD FLORIDA.
